Day traders employed the antiquated method of tape reading to examine the price and volume of a particular asset. Until the 1960's, ticker tape with a ticker symbol, price, and volume was used to transmit stock prices through telegraph lines. Because of the development of personal computers and electronic communication networks in the 1960's, these technologies were phased out.
